Fall is my favorite time of the year! Apples and cinnamon fill the air, beautiful colors drip from the trees and the air is crisp with the sounds of crunchy leaves being piled up and jumped into by kids big and small. What better time of the year to visit an apple orchard? We are heading to Johnson's Orchards this month to learn all about apple growing, apple picking, and apple products, including how they used to make apple cider in the "olden days" (we get to sample modern, pasteurized cider). We also get to pick a bag of apples and take a look around the orchard. If you were on the field trip last year, be sure to bring your "magic apple bag" so that it can get filled up again.

A sign up sheet will be available for this trip beginning on the first Friday of Friday Arts and Fun. You can also email me to join this field trip - adawnw1999@yahoo.com. Also, we are having another field trip in September, on the 24th, so be sure to watch for that announcement as well.

Anyone with questions regarding equipment may speak with Angela Weaver at FAF today.
Past HFE members and new families desiring to join Home Front Educators for 2010-2011 may do so by visiting the appropriate sections of the websites "drop-down" menus ("About Home Front" for membership and "Programs" for Friday Arts and Fun).

Families should print off their forms from the website to fill out and mail in to register (address on forms).
